winter can be over now

February 18, 2013

I am so ready for winter to be over. I think that's the general consensus around here. Winter can happen from December 1st through like now. And then it can be over. Where was all this snow around Christmas? Seriously. That's when snow is needed.

I'm good with snow now.

It can go away.

So can the chilly wind.

We're definitely in the winter doldrums. Well, at least I am. I've felt so uninspired lately, hence the lack of blog posts (sorry!)

I need some warmth, some life and rejuvenation!

I'm so ready for this now.

And this.

Sigh.

We're almost there! March 20th marks the first day of spring. Of course, around here it will still feel like winter. But, shhhh. We can pretend its spring. Well, it is spring. We can pretend it feels like spring.

Until then, have warmth thoughts, dear readers!

Beautiful day, beautiful dress, beautiful couple!

Greetings from Savannah, y'all!

September 15, 2011

So. I haven't updated this thing in about 80 bajillion years. And now I finally am! And a lot of things have happened since my last post.

1. I moved out of my apartment in Boston.

No more Boston. Insert sad face. :(

2. I photographed a wedding for one of my friends.

Insert huge happy face! :-D Congrats, you two.

3. And I moved to Savannah for graduate school.

Woohoo! Insert another huge happy face. Times TWO! :-D :-D

And now...bed! Goodnight, everyone.

A ferris wheel from the Vienna Prater

I found some photos from Vienna while cleaning up my memory cards (yeah, finally! It's only been like three years since Vienna).

Holy moly.

Three years.

Anyway.

I miss Vienna.

The end.

Kitty Kitty loves sleeping on my bed.

Like, she refuses to get off of it.

I guess if I were a cat, I would refuse too.

Beautiful Boston.

This is hilarious. Love it.

Swans nesting in the Public Garden!

Such a gorgeous day.

Weekends need to be longer! I petition that weekends should be AT LEAST three days long.

Think that'll work?

Happy Weekending, everyone!

Check Eet Out!

May 15, 2011

Yes. That's right -- I've started up an Etsy shop! I'm still adding new things, and I've recently updated the look of the shop (I'm sort of going through a re-branding of my website, blog and Etsy -- not that they were all that branded to begin with).

Anyhow.

Go check it out! k louise photography! You won't be disappointed, I promise!

Food + Photography = A Beautiful Thing

April 27, 2011

Well.

It's been a while since I last updated this thing. My initial plan was to try to blog every other day.

Right.

I also planned to not only blog every other day, but finish designing my website (which now is being completely redone since I'm switching website builders/domains) and maintain my Etsy site (and I still haven't even finished that yet).

HAHAHA. Oh boy. I laugh. I set these goals, and they're way too high.

Anyhow, neglected goals aside, I want to talk about the blog, What Katie Ate. Um. I LOVE her photography. It's so rustic and real and all the food looks really scrumptious and I want to eat it all. In fact, I really want to eat this:

Yes. This needs to happen this week.

And also what I really love about What Katie Ate is the story behind the blog. She went to school for graphic design and after a while of working in the graphic design field, Katie decided that it wasn't for her (this is really weird talking about someone who has the same name -- I feel like I'm talking about myself!) Anyhow, Katie quit her graphic design job and went for what she really loved: food and photography. She started up her blog, sharing recipes and her food photography. Katie's blog is now crazy popular AND her work was featured recently in Martha Stewart Living, not to mention the countless other crazy popular blogs and websites out there.

How awesome is that? So, it just goes to show that you can do what you really love. You just have to make that jump!

Inspiration: Jacques-Henri Lartigue

March 28, 2011

Okay, so I'm supposed to be transcribing a stakeholder's meeting right now. Shhh. I figure I can take an uber-short break to write about another one of my all-time favorite photographers: Jacques-Henri Lartigue. Like Cartier Bresson, Lartigue captured everyday life. He too was a trailblazer with street photography and documentary photography. Lartigue's fascination with modern machinery and inventions are apparent throughout his work. His candids are lovely -- they have so much energy and, well, life, just oozing out of them. Here are some of my favorites:

Those French photographers, gosh darn it -- they're just so good. Sigh.

Back to transcribing. Fun times!

Inspiration: Henri Cartier-Bresson

March 9, 2011

Henri Cartier-Bresson is one of my all-time favorite photographers. I discovered Cartier-Bresson in the school library one day when researching photographers for an assignment for Photo I. I honestly didn't know of many photographers before that class -- actually, I don't think I knew any. Well, besides Annie Leibovitz. I think everyone knows about Annie Leibovitz. You'd have to live under a rock to NOT know about Annie Leibovitz. Anyhow, that day in the library I fell in love with Cartier-Bresson. He is considered as the founder of modern photojournalism, the first to do "street photography." I love the candid quality of his photos. They're so beautiful in their simplicity.

*sigh* Sometimes I wish I lived back then. And in France. I would so live in France. Anyways, I just love his work. His photographs give such delicious little slices of life -- I love that.
